Box Score 2 SHREVEPORT, La. -- Millsaps Women's Volleyball(8-18) go 2-1 in this weekend's Halloween Tournament against Mills College, Austin College, and LeTourneau.
The Majors started the weekend by registering a win over Mills College.
The Majors lost to Austin College(22-13) 3-0(15-25, 17-25, 17-25) early Saturday morning. In the Austin game, Millsaps was led by setter Shelby Marsh with 28 assists and four digs. The Majors were led in kills by Erica Bennett, Payton Passantino, and Regan Riddle all with seven kills a piece. Behind them were Morgan Vincent and Susannah Williams with four kills a piece. The Majors combined for 10 blocks, with Regan Riddle leading the way with three assisted blocks. On defense, the Majors were once again led by libero Ashley Zamjahn with 20 digs.
In the next game of the day Saturday afternoon, the Majors won in thrilling fashion in five sets(25-22, 27-25, 16-25, 17-25, 15-4) over LeTourneau (8-24). The Majors started strong, winning the first two sets before dropping the next two sets to LeTourneau. In the fifth deciding set, the Majors restored order, dominating LeTourneau 15-4 to win the match. In this game, the Majors were led by Shelby Marsh with 44 assists, two kills and 16 digs. Erica Bennett led the Majors in kills with an outstanding 25 kills. Bennett also chipped in four assisted blocks and five digs. Ashley Zamjahn led the way in digs with another 30+ dig performance, with 37 digs in this game.
These two games conclude the Majors participation in Centenary's Halloween Volleyball Tournament in Shreveport, LA. Millsaps finished 2-1 in the tournament and will next be in action at the SAA Conference tournament next weekend, beginning the Quarterfinals against Berry College.
