JACKSON, Miss. – The women's soccer team hit the road to face two conference opponents this weekend, Sewanee(5-6-1) on Friday, Oct. 7 and Centre(10-1-2) on Sunday, Oct. 9.
The Majors (1-8-1), fresh off their first victory of the season at home again ITAWAMBA, are resuming conference play and looking to capitalize on a week's rest and build upon their last win. Molly Ambrose scored two goals in the Majors last contest, her second multi-goal game of the season and increased her season goal total to four goals on 28 shots. With Grayston Barron adding the third goal in their 3-1 win, Millsaps women's soccer increased their season goal total to seven.
Defensively, goalkeeper Olivia Gattuso has continued her solid play on the year, only allowing one goal last game and maintaining a solid .656 Save percentage at the goal. Gattuso faced 197 shots and recorded 80 saves.
Sewanee is led by Shelby Meckstroth on offense, who has scored six goals on the season with Samantha Bourgeois holding down the goal on defense. Sewanee has scored 15 goals on the season and are currently undefeated in conference play.
Sewanee is 4-1 in the last five meetings between them and Millsaps, and the Majors will be looking to reverse this trend on Friday, Oct. 7.
Centre is led by senior Destinie Graves who've racked up 14 goals on the year and have Olivia Alford as the defense's anchor who's had five shutouts this year.
Millsaps is 0-5 in their last five meetings with Centre, and are hoping for better luck this year facing the conference rival on Sunday, Oct. 9.
The last two times Hendrix and Millsaps met, Hendrix came out on top, and the Majors will hope to have better luck this year facing the conference foe.
