Men's Soccer falls short at Sewanee, 3-1

Box Score

SEWANEE, Tn. – The Millsaps men's soccer team drop their first conference game to Sewanee on the road on Oct. 7 to fall to 2-1 in the SAA.

Despite outplaying Sewanee at the goal and attempting more corner kicks, the Majors still fell to Sewanee 3-1. Millsaps attempted 19 shots to their six, however Will Merriman, goalkeeper for Sewanee made five saves to prevent the Majors from getting more points on the board.

Nico Roth was responsible for the one goal Millsaps got on the board Friday night, and Steve Chrobok continued his nice offensive play from last week's two goal performance with the assist to Roth.

The Majors gave up the first goal within the first eight minutes before locking down and holding Sewanee until late in the first half. The second half push by Roth and Millsaps was unfortunately cut short by a quick turnaround goal by Marco Randazzo of Sewanee after Roth cut the lead to 1-2.

Coach Steve Voltz felt like the team still played well in a tough matchup on the road. The team will need to be more diligent and focused all over the field for the entire 90 minutes going forward to overcome tough road tests like at Sewanee today.

The Majors will be returning to action on Sunday, Oct. 9 on the road at Centre College in Danville, KY.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.Follow the Majors men's soccer team and the rest of Millsaps Athletics on Facebook at Millsaps Major Athletics, Twitter @MajorAthletics, and Instagram @GoMajors.
