JACKSON, Miss. – Coming off the most thrilling victory of the season over rival Belhaven, Millsaps Women's Volleyball is back in action this weekend, on the road, traveling to Memphis, TN to play Rhodes College(7-8, 3-5) and Conway, AR to face Hendrix College(12-5, 7-1).
With a two game winning streak already secured, the Majors(4-10, 1-6) will be looking to extend that streak this weekend. The Majors are coming off their best performance of the year, with season highs in digs, total attacks, kills, assists, and points against Belhaven.
Millsaps is led on defense by libero Ashley Zamjahn, who racked up a season high 34 digs in that game, and has led the team with 236 digs on the year. Offensively, Morgan Vincent, Regan Riddle, and Erica Bennett, who lead the team in kills, amassing a combined 339 of the Majors 531 kills. Another key cog in the Majors gameplan is setter Shelby Marsh, who leads the team with 295 assists on the year.
Up first this weekend on Friday, Oct. 7 is Rhodes College, fifth place team in the SAA. They are led by Ellen Platt on offense, who leads with 108 kills on the year. On defense, Catherine Grimes is one to watch for, Grimes is their leader in digs with 176.
Up next on Saturday, Oct. 8 is Hendrix College, first place team in the SAA. Their offensive leader is MC Rogers and Sara Dyslin with 149 and 147 kills respectively. Defensively they are led by Leila Matsumoto, who has racked up 252 digs this year.
In their previous matchup against both Rhodes and Hendrix, the Majors fell 0-3 at home, and are attempting to rebound from those losses and upset both teams on the home court this weekend!
The first serve on Friday at Rhodes is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the first serve on Sunday at Hendrix is scheduled for 12 p.m.
