Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – In a 2OT thriller in an away game against Centre College, Alex Bourland's late goal lifts the Majors to a 2-1 win over the Colonels. The clutch afternoon win on the road improves Millsaps record to 7-6 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.
In this game, Millsaps gave up a goal early to Phil Shehan of Centre before tying the game up on a goal from freshman Tore Schütt with the assist by Nat Edwards in the 61st minute of the game. Both defenses locked up from this point, not allowing any goals for the remaining 29 minutes of regulation, forcing overtime. In the first overtime, the Majors defended well, stopping two shots while attempting two corner kicks on the other end. In 2OT, Millsaps finally broke through with the game point when Alex Bourland put one in assisted by Edwards again.
In this tight game, Millsaps attempted seven shots on goal to Centre's six. Goalie Jonathan Huebbe saved five of those shots in an impressive defensive performance. Nico Roth was aggressive, accounting for three of the team's shots on goal. Bourland also attempted four shots on the afternoon. Millsaps played Centre relatively even in most categories,
Coach Steve Voltz felt he Majors showed excellent resilence on the road against a really great team. The Colonels were previously sitting atop the leaderboards at 2-1 thus far and the Majors had a great showing on their second road game in 48 hours. Voltz said this was a great response after a tough loss on friday and that the team really came out to battle and with great halftime adjustments, overcame an early goal.
