JACKSON, Miss. --The Millsaps Men's Soccer team (11-7, 5-2) will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to play Berry College (10-8, 3-4) on a neutral field hosted by Oglethorpe University in the semifinals of the SAA Conference Tournament.
Millsaps finished the season as the 2nd place team in the SAA conference, with a 5-2 in conference record behind only Oglethorpe University. Berry finished as the sixth place team in the SAA in the regular season.
Last game, The Majors (11-7) were led by Nico Roth, who scored two goals on the evening. The Majors played well most of the night before suffering a controversial referee whistle granting Sewanee a penalty kick with .06 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into OT. In OT, Alex Bourland put in the clutch shot to advance the Majors in the playoffs to Berry this weekend.
In Berry's last game, they defeated Rhodes College, 2-0, in a Southern Athletic Association conference quarter-final match on Saturday afternoon.
Millsaps will be led into the playoffs by goalkeeper Johnathan Huebbe and the stifling defense of their backline. Huebbe has 45 saves on 135 shots faced along with two shutouts, including one in the regular season finale. On offense, the Majors will be led by Nico Roth and Alex Bourland, the two leaders in points on the team with 20 and 19 respectively. Roth has eight goals and four assists and Bourland has seven goals and five assists. Behind them is Tore Schütt with four goals and four assists. Behind Schütt is Steven Chrobok and Matt Crooker who have four goals and two assists and three goals with three assists respectively.
