Box Score ATLANTA, Ga. -- Men's Soccer dominates Berry College 4-1 to advance to the SAA Conference Tournament Finals on Sunday.
Coach Steve Voltz felt that Berry came out and really took it to Millsaps early, with the Majors catching good breaks to keep them afloat. The Majors (12-7) used these breaks to get off to a quick start on the board, scoring their first and second goal back-to-back at the 12 and 13 minute mark of the first period before relenting their first goal at the 20 minute mark. Voltz felt that once Millsaps finally found their energy after these opening minutes, they created great opportunities and played very well. From this point where the Majors found their footing early, Millsaps shut Berry out and scored two more goals to take the great playoff win against a really tough Berry team.
In this game, Millsaps outshot Berry 15-13 and landed six more shots on goal than Berry. Tore Schütt scored two big goals and Jan Bergk also scored a goal. Gabriel Ryce got the assist on Tore's goal, Nico Roth registered five shots, Steven Chrobok landed two shots on goal and Alex Bourland also registered a shot.
Once again, this Majors team showed major resilience and work ethic in order to overcome a good team on a neutral field and will get a chance to turn this resilience and hard work into a conference title on Sunday. Coach Voltz motto for this game was "survive and advance" and the Major survived and have now advanced to the title match. The Majors will face a tough opponent either way, with the winner of #1 Oglethorpe vs. #4 Centre awaiting the Majors in the final match.
