Box Score Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Baseball Team fell to Huntingdon earlier today by a score of 11-2.
Today's game marks the second day of play in the Millsaps Invitational, where four teams are competing over the weekend at Twenty Field. Huntingdon started the game fast with three runs in the top of the first – and never looked back. Millsaps would add a pair of runs in the third and sixth inning, but could not overcome the Hawks' fast start.
With the loss, Millsaps falls to 2-3 on the young season as Huntingdon moves to 4-1. In the bottom of the third,
Andy Page gave Millsaps a great deal of momentum on a triple to right field. From there,
Lee Ogletree reached first on a fielding error, which scored Page.
In the bottom of the sixth, Millsaps scored their second run on a sacrifice fly. After an
Isaac Glenn single to left field,
Jacob Mardick put the Majors in scoring position with a scorched single to the pitcher.
Chase Callaway then scored Glenn on an RBI sacrifice fly to left field.
Despite the positive sixth, the Majors never scored again to fall 11-2.
Isaac Glenn led Millsaps with three hits while
Andy Page,
Seth Trulock and
Jacob Mardick all earned a hit as well. Millsaps finished the game with two runs, six hits and two errors while Huntingdon totaled 11 runs on 11 hits and five errors.
The Majors will look to rebound in the final day of the Millsaps Invitational tomorrow. Tomorrow's contest features a rematch against LaGrange where the Majors won earlier in the week 3-2.
First pitch against the Panthers is set for tomorrow (Feb. 14th) at 3:00 pm – or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the earlier game between the Ozarks and Huntingdon.
