Box Score Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Baseball team dropped a rubber match to Rhodes at Twenty Field earlier today by a score of 3-1.
Sunday's defeat marks the first conference series loss of the season for the Majors, as they were held to one run on seven hits. The Rhodes Lynx scored twice in the first and once in the third en route to the 3-1 win. With the loss, the Majors drop to 10-10 (5-4) on the year while Rhodes improves to 15-10 (6-3).
Rhodes took an early lead in the top of the first with an RBI single to left field and fielding error by the Majors. The Lynx added another run in the third on a throwing error to take a 3-0 lead.
In the fourth, the Majors scored their first run of the day on an RBI sacrifice fly by
Cavan Breland.
Isaac Glenn tagged up on the play to cross home plate, but it would mark the only score of the day for Millsaps.
Overall, the Majors finished with one run on seven hits and two errors while the Lynx finished with three runs on 11 hits and one error.
Isaac Glenn and
Lee Ogletree led in hits with two each while
Cavan Breland,
Drew Wray and
Zack Borne each totaled one. Breland also earned the RBI on the day for Millsaps.
Now at 10-10, the Majors will look to quickly rebound with a midweek non-conference matchup. The Millsaps Baseball Team will travel down Riverside Drive to face the Belhaven Blazers Tuesday, March 22nd. First pitch from Smith-Wills Stadium is set for 6:00 pm.
