Majors Drop Local Non-Conference Matchup in Regular Season Home Finale

Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Mississippi College on Tuesday night by a score of 6-1.

The Choctaws led throughout the entire contest taking a 1-0 lead in the second and later secured the victory scoring three runs in the third.  With the loss, the Majors drop to 17-18 while Mississippi College improves to 13-23.  Tuesday's matchup, which originally was scheduled to be an away game for the Majors, was moved to Twenty Field due to Monday night's inclement weather.  The matchup also marks the final regular season home game for Millsaps Baseball as the Majors will travel to Arkansas for the final conference series of the regular season this weekend.

Mississippi College took advantage of four Millsaps errors scoring four unearned runs to hold an early lead.  Overall, the Choctaws secured the win scoring six runs on nine hits while the Majors totaled a run on three hits.

The Choctaws took an early lead scoring once in the second and three in the third – and never looked back.  The Majors added their first run of the night in the sixth on a fielder's choice RBI.

Freshman Jimmy Fondren got things started with a leadoff walk.  From there, Logan Patterson and Andy Page were walked to load the bases with no outs.  Isaac Glenn then reached first on a fielder's choice scoring Fondren to put the Majors on the board.

Mississippi College eventually closed out the game with effective pitching and defense as Isaac Glenn, Wes Lassere and Jimmy Fondren totaled the three hits on the night for Millsaps.  Glenn also led with an RBI while Jimmy Fondren went 1-2 with a hit starting at right field for the Majors.

Now at 17-18, the Majors will look to rebound with the final conference series of the regular season this weekend.  The Millsaps Baseball team travels to Conway, Arkansas to face Hendrix College for a three game series starting Saturday.

The Warriors and Majors begin a three-game series starting with double-header this Saturday, April 16th.  First pitch from Warrior Baseball Field is set for 1:00 pm.
