Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Baseball team fell to Berry on Friday by a score of 3-2 in the first game of a three-game series.
Friday's matchup marks the beginning of the final regular season home series for Millsaps Baseball, as the Majors fell fell 3-2 despite outhitting the Vikings 7-4. Berry earned the win with solid pitching completing the game with just three runs on four hits. Berry took advantage of four errors by the Majors, as they now move to 24-10 with the win while Millsaps falls to 16-16.
Berry scored once in each of the opening three frames to take an early lead. In the third, the bases were loaded giving Berry an opportune chance to add to the lead. The Majors, however, forced a rare, but welcomed triple play (643) to end the inning and scoring threat.
In the bottom half of the third, Millsaps added their second – and final run of the day.
Isaac Glenn and
Lee Ogletree got things started with back-to-back singles. A well-placed sacrifice bunt by
Connor Woodall advanced Glenn and Ogletree into scoring position, giving
Andy Page an opportune at-bat.
Page delivered with a groundout to second, scoring Glenn and cutting the deficit to one run. Berry, however, closed the game with effective pitching and defense, as neither team would score for the remaining six innings of play.
The Vikings finished the game scoring three runs on four hits and no errors while the Majors scored two runs on seven hits and four errors.

Wes Lassere led in RBI with one apiece while designated hitter
Connor Woodall led in hits with two.
Isaac Glenn,
Lee Ogletree,
Wes Lassere,
Cavan Breland and
Brennan Ducote accounted for the five other hits, as each recorded one in Friday's contest.
Now at 16-16, the Majors will look to rebound with the series continuing tomorrow, April 9th. Saturday features a double header at Twenty Field, as first pitch for game one is set for 12:00 pm.
