Jackson, MS –
Lee Ogletree hit a walk-off triple in the seventh inning to secure a 4-3 win in the final contest of a three-game series between Berry and Millsaps.
Ogletree's walk-off scored Glenn, who got things started with a single earlier in the inning, as the Majors avoided a sweep to Berry on Saturday. After falling to Berry 7-1 earlier in the day, the Majors responded with a close, intense victory to improve to 17-17 on the year. With the game-three loss, Berry falls to 25-11.
The Vikings earned the series win earlier in the day with a 7-1 victory.
Jimmy Fondren had the RBI for Millsaps scoring
Zack Borne on a double in the ninth. Berry led throughout the contest as Vikings' starting pitcher – Ben Jernigan – pitched a complete game giving up one run on seven hits.
In the second game,
Lee Ogletree and
Andy Page led the Majors with two RBI each. Ogletree got things started scoring
Cavan Breland on an RBI double in the third – giving the Majors an early 1-0 lead.
In the following inning,
Joseph Stearns scored on a throwing error by the Vikings as the Majors took a 2-0 lead. Berry, however, answered scoring their first run of the seven-inning game in the fifth inning.
The Vikings added another run in the sixth to tie the contest, but Millsaps retook the lead on an
Andy Page RBI single up the middle.
In the decisive seventh, the Majors needed just three outs to secure a win. The Vikings, however, tied the game on an RBI single with two outs on the board. From there,
Chris Guerin shut down any further scoring threat with a strike out to end the inning – his second of the day.
With the game tied 3-3, the Majors headed to the bottom of the seventh needing a rally to avoid extra innings.
Isaac Glenn got things started with a single through the left side, putting the game-winning run at first. From there,
Lee Ogletree stepped up for an opportune at-bat.
The catcher from Raymond, Mississippi delivered with a triple launched to left center – allowing
Isaac Glenn to cross home plate for a walk-off win. A crowd of Majors awaited the Preseason All-American at home, as the Majors secured their 17th win of the season in thrilling, dramatic style.
The pitching duo of
Kenny Wright and
Chris Guerin held the Vikings to three runs on nine hits striking out two batters each as Wright allowed one run on five hits and Guerin allowed two runs on four hits.
Logan Patterson,
Andy Page and
Lee Ogletree led the Majors in hits on the day recording three each while Ogletree and Page also led in RBI with two (both in the second game of the day).
Now at 17-17, the Majors will look to use the positive momentum from Saturday's game-three win moving into the final four games of the regular season – all of which will be played on the road.
