Jack Belote Named New Head Golf Coach for the Majors

Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Athletics Department recently announced Jack Belote as the new Head Golf Coach.

Jack comes to the Majors after serving as the Head Golf Coach for Covenant College in Georgia.  Belote served as the Scots' head coach for two years after a successful playing career with the University of Memphis.

Under head coach Grant Robbins, Belote helped lead the Tigers to their first-ever NCAA Championship appearance in 2012.  As a player, he was a two-time All-Conference USA selection, earned second team honors in 2011 and was a first team selection in 2012.  Overall, Belote had 24 top 20 finishes with Memphis and won the 2010 Mason Rudolph Championship.

Belote was also a two-time Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar and two-time C-USA All-Academic team member.  He was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in 2011 and earned 2012 C-USA Scholar Athlete honors.

After graduating in 2012, he was a student assistant for Robbins for the 2012-13 season.  He was also a clubhouse supervisor and an assistant professional at the Audubon Golf Course in Memphis, Tennessee.  With the Scots, Belote coached multiple All-Tournament, All-Academic and All-Sportsmanship players for two seasons.

Belote takes on head coaching duties for the Millsaps Men's and Women's Golf Teams.  Both teams experienced a great deal of success last season, with the Women's Team earning votes in the nations top 50 while the Men's Team earned top 25 rankings for the 2015-16 season.  The Majors also had two First-Team All-Conference selections last year as well.

"The department is excited to have Jack on board to provide vision and direction to our Men's and Women's Golf programs." Millsaps Director of Athletics Donnie Brooks said.  "Throughout the process he displayed an ability to recruit and excellence in teaching that will be needed to take us further into national recognition."

Belote graduated from the University of Memphis in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science.

"I am excited to be stepping into an established program here at Millsaps," Belote said.  "I hope to facilitate a championship mindset and work ethic within both the men's and women's teams."
