Box Score TEXARKANA, Texas – The Millsaps women's soccer (0-2-1) was unable to find their footing against Texas A&M-Texarkana (4-3) and fell 7-0 on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Playing with only 12 players, the Majors found themselves unable to overcome fatigue in the Texas heat and struggled to put up a solid defensive effort.
Junior goalkeeper
Olivia Gattuso did what she could at the goal to stop the bleeding by recording 11 saves but was unable to prevent the seven Texarkana goals.
Offensively, three Majors were able to maneuver around the Eagles defense to get into striking distance but was unable to turn their shots into goals.
Maria Welch and
Ellie Dennis recorded advanced the Major offense, recording two and one shot respectively and
Emily Gager recorded Millsaps single shot on goal.
For the next outing, the Majors must work on healing the injured and find methods to overcome fatigue.
Millsaps will have three days to regroup and finds ways to solve their depth issues before heading to Shreveport, La. to play Centenary College. The Tuesday, Sept 13 game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
