Men's Soccer looks to continue winning streak at William Carey

JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College men's soccer team looks to continue its winning streak as it travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. to face William Carey University on Friday, Sept. 16.
 
The Majors (3-3) are coming of two road wins, defeating Covenant College 2-1 and Centenary College 2-1 and are looking for a third against William Carey.
 
Gabriel Ryce, freshman midfielder from Jonesboro, Ga., has been the leading force behind the Major offense. Scoring two last minute goals for two separate wins, Ryce leads Millsaps in goals scored. During the Majors first home game against the University of Mobile, Riyce scored the game-winning goal with under a minute left in double overtime and scored the game-winning goal against Covenant with just two minutes left in regulation play.  Ryce's effort on the field has not gone unnoticed. During week two of the soccer season, he was named as the SAA Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Other standout offensive performers for the Majors are Nico Roth and Tore Schutt. Nico Roth, a red-shirt senior from Germany, leads Millsaps in shots on goal. Roth has tallied 10 shots with seven shots on goal and has given one goal to Major scoring effort.
 
Schutt, freshman midfielder also from Germany, leads the Majors in most shots taken. Schutt has recorded 14 shots with five shots on goal. He has also tallied three assists for the Millsaps offense.
 
Jonathan Huebbe and Alfie Miller are the only goalkeepers that have seen action this season. Huebbe leads the Majors with a 2-3-0 record and has 19 saves with 10 goals allowed. He holds a save percentage of .655.
 
Miller has played in one game with one win and had tallied five goals saved with one goal allowed.
 
As a team, the Majors have scored seven goals on 72 assists with 34 shots on goal. They have also tallied six assist and 30 corner kicks.  Their opponents have scored 12 goals against them with nine assist and 27 corner kicks.
 
William Carey holds a 3-1-1 record. The Crusaders have scored 10 goals this season on 75 attempts with 39 shots on goal. They have also tallied seven assists and 25 corner kicks.
