Box Score HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Millsaps men's soccer team end road winning streak at William Carey, falling 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 16.
The Majors battled hard against the Crusaders recording 11 shots (two on goal) to William Carey's 13 shots (five on goal). They also tallied six corner kicks to the Crusaders three.
Nico Roth and
Steven Chrobok led the Millsaps offense with two shots each. Roth was a more accurate than Chrobok, marking one shot on goal.
Tore Schutt also stepped up offensively for the Majors to grab one shot on goal.
Alfie Miller and Jonathan Huebbe split the time guarding the goal for Millsaps. Miller recorded two saves with one goal allowed and Huebbe recorded one save with one goal allowed.
"We played an astounding game. The effort was fantastic throughout the match,"said head coach
Steve Voltz. "We have to learn to be more clinical in front of the ball but we played a good style of soccer and it was solid effort against one of the best NAIA teams."
Voltz also said that the guys played one of their best game this season and he is looking forward to bringing that intensity into conference action next week.
The Majors will host Rhodes College in the first conference match up of the season on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Harper Davis Field located on the campus of Millsaps College.
