DANVILLE, Ky. - The Millsaps women's volleyball team put up a great offense against Centre College in their first conference match but was unable to make it into a win. Despite the effort. the Majors fell 3-1 to the Colonels on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Majors played hard and was able to score more points then Centre, racking up 60 points to their 50. They out did the Colonels in several categories, recording more kills (45-42), more service aces (7-2), and more blocks (8-3) but they were crippled by mistakes and errors that ultimately cost them the game.
Morgan Vincent led the Majors offense and was responsible for a game high of 16 points. Vincent recorded 13 kills on 38 total attacks for a .158 hitting percentage. She also recorded two service aces and was credited with 15 digs for the Major defensese
Ashley Zamjahn once again led the Major defense. The SAA Defensive Player of the Week nominee recorded 16 digs and was responsible for one kill to give a single point to the Major offense.
Other standout Majors were Erica Bennet and Shelby Marsh. Bennet gave 12 kills to the Millsaps offense and Marsh led the Majors in assists with 20.
Millsaps will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 18 when they travel to Tennessee to face Sewanee. The first serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
