Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – In an intense battle for a conference win, the Millsaps College volleyball team (2-6) were unable to come out on top, dropping a 3-1 (25-22, 17-25, 21-25, 20-25) decision to Sewanee (7-3).
The Majors received a couple of double-digit kill performances to aid in the offensive effort. Millsaps junior
Regan Riddle landed 12 kills and
Morgan Vincent landed 10. Vincent not only contributed offensively, she also led the Majors defense with 15 digs. Senior
Susannah Williams topped everyone with a match high of five total blocks and
Shelby Marsh led the pack with a match high of 30 assists.
Milsaps did not make it an easy win for Sewanee. Both teams scored at least 20 in three out of the four sets and they tied over 25 times throughout the match and exchanged leads over 20. The Majors out played Sewanee in several categories including blocks, digs, and total attacks.
The Majors fought hard and are hoping to bring that same effort home when they face Birmingham-Southern in the first home game of the season. Millsaps will be looking for their first conference when and a home season opener win on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
