JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College women's volleyball team will play their first home game of the 2016 season Monday, Sept. 21. The Majors (2-6) will host Birmingham-Southern (9-1) in the Hanger Dome at 6:00 p.m.
Millsaps has had a rough start to the season but hope to turn it around with their first home field advantage.
Morgan Vincent, freshman outside hitter, leads the Majors offensively playing in 31 sets with 91 kills, 274 total attacks, and 11 server aces. She averages 2.94 kills-per-set and has a .124 hitting percentage.
Ashley Zamjahn, junior defense specialist, leads the Majors defense with 29 sets played for 116 total digs to average 4.00 digs-per-set. She is also ranked third on the team in assist with 20 and has given five server aces to the Millsaps offensive effort.
Shelby Marsh has been the main setter for the Majors. She has played in 31 sets and recorded 146 assists. Marsh averages 4.71 assists-per-set and has given seven server aces to the Millsaps offense.
As a team, the Majors average 10.5 kills-per-set, 9.9 assists, 1.3 server aces, 14.7 digs, and 1.4 blocks. They allow 10.9 kills-per-set, 9.9 assists, 1.8 server aces, 14.7 digs, and 1.8 blocks.
The Majors took on Birmingham – Southern twice last season and was unable to step back with a win falling 3-0 at each match. Millsaps is looking to change that story for the 2016 and claim a win in their home opener.
