Box Score JACKSON, MISS. – In a match where the Majors started strong, the Millsaps College Volleyball team (2-9) ultimately were unable to sustain their strong play, dropping the match to Hendrix College(10-4), 3-0 (22-25, 13-25, 8-25).
Individually, the Majors received a double-digit kill performance from Regan Riddle who led all Majors players with 11 kills. She was followed by both Lena Barrett and Erica Bennett with three kills a piece. Shelby Marsh and Presley Stoltzfus also contributed offensively with two aces amongst themselves. Defensively, Ashley Zamjahn led all players with 13 digs with Marsh and Susannah Williams also collecting six and four digs respectively. Williams also led all Majors with three blocks.
Millsaps fought hard in the first set, holding the lead for much of the set and competing closely before relenting the set 25-22. The next two sets, the Majors played hard and competed but ultimately fell short, losing the sets 25-13 and 25-8. The Majors played the Warriors closely in many statistical categories, such as digs, aces and kills.
The Majors are hoping to reverse their luck and have a more favorable outcome in this next outing vs. Berry College. Millsaps will be looking for their first conference win and home win on Friday, Sept. 30. The first serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
