JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College women's volleyball team will be back in action this weekend, Friday Sept. 30 against Berry and Saturday Oct. 1 hosting Oglethorpe. Two conference rivals, the Majors (2-9) will be in search of their first conference win of the year against the Berry Vikings (11-4) and Oglethorpe (7-7).
Morgan Vincent leads the Majors offense with 112.0 points. The freshman outside hitter has played in all ten matches and has recorded 96 kills and 302 total attacks. She is followed by SAA Offensive Player of the Week nominee, Regan Riddle with 68.5 points and 58 kills.
Ashley Zamjahn, leads the Millsaps defense with 158 digs so far this season. The junior libero has played in all nine matches and averages 4.16 digs-per set. She has also contributed on offense with ten kills. Setter, Shelby Marsh has also been a key player for the Majors, racking up 181 assists so far this season.
As a team, the Majors have recorded 407 kills, 1412 total attacks, 383 assists, 44 server aces, 584 digs, and 55 total blocks. Millsaps averages 10.2 kills-per-set, 9.6 assists, 14.6 digs, and 1.4 blocks-per-set.
Up first is Berry, winners of three straight. The Vikings average 12.42 kills per set, 11.7 assists per set, 2.53 blocks per set and 16.77 digs per set. Olgethorpe averages 10.08 kills per set, 9.34 assists per set, 1.75 blocks per set and 17.25 digs per set.
In past contests, Millsaps has won six straight against Oglethorpe over the last five years. On the other hand, the Majors have dropped the last four to Berry. Millsaps is looking to continue its dominance over Oglethorpe and reverse the trend against Berry this weekend!
The first serve on Friday against Berry is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the first serve on Saturday vs. Oglethorpe is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Hangar Dome located on the campus of Millsaps College.
