Millsaps Gets Much Needed Conference Win at Hendrix

Conway, Ark. – It was a solid day all around for the Millsaps volleyball team, they were able to bounce back from Saturday's tough loss and won in four sets at Hendrix Sunday afternoon (21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-17).

Erica Bennett (Slidell, La.) finished with her season high with 18 kills in the match. Joining her in double figures were Mckenzi Petricko (Colorado Springs, Colo.) who had 15 kills and six digs and Morgan Vincent (Lafayette, La.) who tallied 11 kills on the day.

On the defensive end, Ashley Zamjahn (Harahan, La.) had another big day with 34 digs. Presley Stoltzfus (Baton Rouge, La.) finished the match with 13 digs and Shelby Marsh (Dallas, Texas) set a new season high with 50 assists while also tying her season high with 13 digs. Eight out of the nine Majors that saw action finished with six or more digs in the match.

After Millsaps led 17-13 in the first set, Hendrix came back and went on a 7-0 run to take the lead. The Warriors then outscored the Majors 5-4 to go up one set to none.

Millsaps would not allow another set to get away from them. In the second the Majors rallied to an 18-9 lead, they closed things out with an ace by Regan Riddle (Montgomery, Ala.), and kills by Petricko and Noelle Coats (San Antonio, Texas).

Another fast start lifted the Majors in the third set, Millsaps got out to a 10-6 lead. After a Hendrix timeout the Warriors answered back and scored four straight points to tie the set at ten. The teams traded points until Millsaps held onto a slim 15-14 lead, the Majors then went on a 9-4 run to set up match point. Hendrix scored the next three points to make things interesting but a kill from Bennett ended the threat and put the Majors up two sets to one.

Millsaps carried their momentum into the fourth set and were able to go ahead 20-13 and not look back as they took the match.

MIllsaps improves to 8-9 on the season and 3-4 in the SAA. The Majors will look to defend their home court as they return to the Hangar dome to take on SAA foe Centre on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
