JACKSON, Miss. – Despite outshooting Sewanee 19-10 in the match, Millsaps came up short against the Tigers, falling 3-2 at home Sunday afternoon.
Brett Judd (Monroe, La.) got the scoring going early for the Majors. After
Alex Bourland's (Charleston, S.C.) shot was deflected off the keeper, Judd found himself with a clean shot in front of the goal that he made the most of to put the Majors ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute.
Sewanee would strike back quickly. In the 19th minute, the Tigers got a breakaway goal to tie the match. After many shot attempts by Millsaps, Sewanee took advantage again and scored in the 38th minute to take the lead.
MIllsaps did not go quietly into the half. Just two minutes later
Luca Kistner (Munich, Germany) found himself with space to shoot after a pass from
Tore Schütt (Hamburg, Germany). Kistner took advantage and tied the match back at two before halftime.
Sewanne scored the game-winning goal in the 46th minute. Millsaps had plenty of chances to tie the game again, outshooting Sewanee 11-3 in the second half, but came up empty each time.
Millsaps record is now 5-5-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in SAA play. The Majors are back in action at Oglethorpe on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
