CONWAY, Ark. – A strong offensive fourth quarter was not enough for the Millsaps football team as they dropped their final game of the 2017 season, 35-21 at Hendrix.
After a scoreless first quarter, Hendrix got on the board first midway through the second. The Warriors began the drive on their own 36-yard line and marched down the field just over four minutes. They completed the drive with a 21-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead.
MIllsaps had a quick answer and scored a touchdown two minutes later. Beginning at their own 38-yard line,
Ty Proctor completed a 16-yard pass to
Isaiah Talton to get it started. Later in the drive, Proctor scrambled for a 15-yard gain and Talton picked up ten more on the ground. Millsaps tied the game at seven when Proctor found
John Bourgeois for a 15-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-7 tie into halftime.
Hendrix started the third quarter with a bang, bringing back the opening kickoff for a 93-yard touchdown return. The Warriors scored again on their very next possession with a 29-yard touchdown rush to take a 21-7 lead at the end of three quarters.
After another Hendrix touchdown early in the fourth quarter, Millsaps gained back momentum. When Hendrix had the ball on the Majors four-yard line,
Hooch Jeansonne came away with an interception in the end zone and brought it back 95 yards to set the Majors up with a first and goal.
Fritz Walker III took the handoff and ran in the five-yard touchdown to make it a two-touchdown game.
Hendrix would score once more with a 78-yard drive to bring the score to 35-14. With just over a minute left on the clock, Proctor connected with
Tanner Menist for a 23-yard touchdown pass to give the game its final score of 35-21.
This marks the final game for the 12 seniors on the roster. Millsaps will now prepare for a successful 2018 campaign.
