NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Millsaps women's basketball team opened the Music City Classic in Nashville with a 73-61 loss at the hands of Washington and Jefferson Friday night. The Presidents are currently receiving votes in the latest

Braxton Thomas came away with 15 points, six rebounds and a block and freshman
Dia Fortenberry finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Sophomore
Anna Wilson and sophomore
Megan Donaldson each scored nine points for the Majors while freshman
Taelor Manning had eight points.
Despite being outscored 22-14 in the first quarter, Millsaps won the second with a couple of threes and shooting 58 percent in the quarter while holding Washington and Jefferson to 39 percent shooting. The Majors kept things close in the first half and would head into the break trailing 38-31.
In the third, the Majors kept up their strong play and closed the gap by the end of the quarter. Millsaps was strong around the rim and did a good job of getting to the free throw line, converting on 6-7 from the charity stripe. After a hard fought third quarter, the Majors found themselves down by five points (55-50).
Washington and Jefferson extended their lead in the closing minutes of the fourth, Millsaps hit a couple three pointers to keep it close but the Presidents held off the Majors, converting on 10-11 free throws to put the game away.
Millsaps is now 3-7 on the season. The Majors stay in Nashville for their final game of the Music City Classic against Salisbury University beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
