ATLANTA, Ga. (Apr. 28, 2017) – A pair of Millsaps College baseball players saw their names listed among the first team All-Southern Athletic Association honorees that were announced by the conference today. Juniors
Jacob Mardick (The Woodlands, Texas) and
Andy Page (Brandon, Miss.) were among seven Majors that were named to all-conference teams by the league. Earning second team recognition was senior
Lee Ogletree (Raymond, Miss.) and juniors
Chase Callaway (Brandon, Miss.) and
Wes Lassere (Thibodaux, La.). Senior
Logan Patterson (Pensacola, Fla.) and sophomore
Brennan Ducote (Lafayette, La.) received honorable mention honors.
This marks the second time on the all-conference list for Page, the starter in center field for the Majors. He leads the team hitting (.393), hits (53), and on-base percentage (.465), ranking among the SAA leaders in each category. He has also fielded his position flawlessly this season, handling 72 chances in the outfield without an error. Mardick has become Millsaps top staring pitcher, compiling an 8-2 record in 14 appearances with a 2.59 ERA. He has three complete games to his credit and ranks among the SAA leaders in wins, ERA, complete games, innings pitched (66.0) and strikeouts (60).
Ogletree was selected to an all-conference team for the third time in his career. A catcher, he has a batting average of .305 this season and shares the team lead in home runs (5) and paces the team in doubles (13) and RBI (34). His hitting totals have him ranked among the top-10 in the SAA this season in doubles, home runs, RBI, slugging (.534), walks (24), and on-base percentage (.456). At first base, Callaway has put together a strong season with a .303 average to go with a pair of home runs and 17 RBI this season for Millsaps, ranking among the team leaders in average, home runs, runs (28), doubles (7), walks (21) and on-base percentage (.432). Holding down the third base position for the Majors this season Lassere has hit .277 and shares the team lead with Ogletree with five home runs. He also ranks among the team leaders in RBI (27), doubles (6), runs (33), and slugging (.440).
For Patterson it is his second career all-conference selection. One of the top fielding shortstops in the SAA, he has hit .280 with 17 RBI and is tied for second on the team with eight stolen bases. Ducote, selected as a designated hitter, makes his first all-conference team after batting .292 this season with one home run and 17 RBI.
