MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Apr. 29, 2017) – Millsaps College scored in every inning but the second, racking up 14 runs and 15 hits on its way to a 14-4 victory over Oglethorpe University in an elimination game at the 2017 Southern Athletic Association Baseball Tournament. Senior
Lee Ogletree (Raymond, Miss.) doubled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Zack Borne (Denham Springs, La.) started for Millsaps (18-23) and allowed just three runners over the first three innings to keep Oglethorpe (19-21) off the board. The Majors used the strong start to build an early lead that they would not let go of, getting one in the first on an RBI single by junior
Wes Lassere (Thibodaux, La.) and two more in the third on a bases loaded wild pitch and an RBI single to left by senior
Seth Trulock (Taylorville, Ill.).
Oglethorpe broke through with a pair of runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Bobby Rezac and a fielder's choice from Sam Held to make it 3-2. Millsaps got the runs right back in its half of the inning, loading the bases for Lassere who delivered two more runs with a base hit.
Trailing 6-2 in the sixth, the Stormy Petrels crept back within two when they picked up an RBI doubles from Rezac and Matt Motz, but the Majors answered the runs again when junior
Andy Page (Warrenton, Va.) singled in a pair in the bottom half of the inning to make it 8-4.
Millsaps then put the game away with three runs each in the seventh and eighth. After moving ahead 11-4 with the three in the seventh, the Majors loaded the bases in the eighth with one away for Ogletree who brought home all three runners and ended the contest with his shot to the wall in left center.
Junior
John Wiltshire (Chantilly, Va.) pitched the final 2.2 innings for Millsaps, allowing just three hits and keeping Oglethorpe off the board as the Majors picked up the win.
Millsaps, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, will now get a rematch with Hendrix College, the No. 3 seed, this evening at USA Stadium in Millington, Tennessee. The winner will take on Rhodes tomorrow with a chance to advance to the conference championship series next weekend.
