PINEVILLE, La. – MIllsaps women's soccer battled Louisiana College to a 1-1 double overtime draw Wednesday night in Louisiana.
Junior
Grayston Barron (Little Rock, Ark.) scored the first goal of the season for Millsaps in the 43rd minute of the match off of an assist from sophomore
Riley Fobare (Franklin, Tenn.) to give the Majors a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Millsaps controlled the pace in the first half outshooting the Wildcats 9-4. Both teams made two shots on goal.
Louisiana College came into the second half with a renewed energy and ended up outshooting Millsaps 7-2 in the half. The Wildcats tied things up at one with a long goal from 30 yards out in the 69th minute.
Millsaps put a shot on goal in each of the two overtime periods but were unable to convert. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. The Majors finished with five corner kicks compared to the Wildcats zero.
Freshman
Aimee Leachman (Madisonville, La.) finished the match with three shots and two on goal while senior
Lindsay Redhead (Baton Rouge, La.) had three shots in the game.
The Majors record is now 0-4-1 after the tie. They are back in action on Sunday for a non-conference match against Mississippi Valley State at Harper Davis Field at 5:00 p.m.
