Atlanta, Ga. – On the first night of the Emory Classic in Atlanta, Georgia, Millsaps saw a late comeback effort fall shot against Chapman University, losing 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-18, 21-25).

Mckenzi Petricko (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the team offensively with 13 kills while Payton Passantino (Plaquemine, La.) also finished in double figures in kills with ten and racked up 13 digs. Defensively Ashley Zamjahn (Harahan, La.) had a team leading 20 digs and Gracie Bellnap (Kingwood, Texas) finished with 11 digs and 16 assists. Shelby Marsh (Dallas, Texas) led the team with 18 assists.

Millsaps fell behind 5-0 early in the first set but fought back to make it 22-21 late in the set. Chapman then scored the next three points on two kills and an ace to go up 1-0.

The Majors took a 16-13 lead midway through the second set. But Chapman caught fire and rattled off the next eight points to go ahead 21-16 and hold off Millsaps to go up 2-0.

Millsaps did not let the third set get away from them. This time they took a 15-10 lead and outscored Chapman 10-8 to take their first set of the match.

Chapman would hold on in the fourth set despite a Millsaps comeback effort when the Majors tied it 20-20. Chapman would score the next five out of six points to give them the set and match win.

With the loss, the Majors fall to 2-3 on the season. They will wrap up the Emory Classic on Saturday against Desales at 10:00 am Eastern time and the host Emory at 12:30 pm Eastern Time.
