Millsaps Hammers Hendrix; Sullivan Scores 41

JACKSON, Miss. – Junior Michael Sullivan hit a career high 10-13 three-pointers to finish with 41 points to go along with eight rebounds in the Majors 86-61 win over Hendrix. Millsaps improves to 4-12 and 1-2 in the conference, picking up their first SAA win of the season. Hendrix is now 4-12 and 2-3 in the conference.

Joining Sullivan in double figures was sophomore Buck Blanz, who came away with ten points and five rebounds, and sophomore She'Chem Grant, who had ten points off the bench. Sophomore James Turner got the starting nod and finished with seven points, six rebounds and three assists.

Sullivan and Blanz combined for the first 11 out of 13 points as the Majors jumped out to a 13-5 lead over the first five minutes of the game. Hendrix pulled to within three, but five straight points by Blanz sparked a 13-5 run to put Millsaps on top 26-15 with 8:18 until halftime.

After Hendrix cut the lead to single digits, Sullivan hit three straight three-pointers in three minutes to bring the Majors lead to 35-17 with 5:04 to go. Turner kept it going with two straight baskets and Sullivan closed the first with a three to make it 45-29 at the break. Sullivan scored 20 points on 6-8 from downtown in the first half.

Sullivan picked up right where he left off, scoring the first 15 points for Millsaps, capping it off with a four-point play to bring the Millsaps lead to 60-39 with 14:30 to go in the game. Matt Owens and Kalvin Spikes kept it going with baskets and Grant converted on back-to-back layups to make it a 19-point lead.

By the time Sullivan made his final three layups, the game was all but over and Millsaps cruised to the easy victory.
