JACKSON, Miss.– The Millsaps College softball program has released the team's schedule for the upcoming 2019 regular season.
The Majors are coming off a 19-19 campaign in 2018 that saw them win a pair of games in the postseason Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament before being eliminated on the third day of the tournament by Rhodes.
The team picked up several postseason awards including six All-SAA selections.
This year the Majors will have a new-look as alumnae
Caroline DeLoach was named the head coach in early August, and
Kayla Davidson-Reel was hired as her assistant. There are also ten freshmen on the roster this year, so the entire program will have a new look to it when the team takes the field for their first game in early February.
Millsaps opens the year with eight consecutive games away from Jackson, including the season-opening weekend in a tournament hosted by Hardin-Simmons University on February 1
st and 2
nd where the Majors will play games against McMurry University, Schreiner University, Austin College and the hosts Hardin-Simmons.
The team will play their home opener in a doubleheader at the Millsaps Softball Complex against Huntingdon College on Sunday, February 17
th.
The Majors open SAA play at home on March 2
nd and 3
rd with a three-game series against Hendrix. Sewanee and Rhodes will also travel to Jackson in conference play this season.
Millsaps will spend spring break in sunny Kissimee, Florida. Dates, times and opponents for that trip will be announced at a later date.
Another highlight on the schedule is a home doubleheader against cross-town rival Belhaven University on February 19
th.
