10/12/2018 2:34:00 PM

JACKSON, Miss. – Coming off their bye week with a 4-1 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), the Millsaps College football team is ready for the second-half of their season.

It is Homecoming Weekend on the campus of Millsaps College, and tomorrow afternoon the Majors will host Austin College in a SAA showdown. The 'Roos come into the weekend 1-5 on the year, and are 1-3 in SAA play. Last week Austin fell at home to Centre by a 38-20 score.

Last Time Out
The Majors were tied 7-7 at halftime with Rhodes College, but unfortunately the Lynx hit a 33-yard field goal attempt as time expired to escape Harper Davis Field with a 24-21 win. It was the first loss of the season for Millsaps.

Despite the loss, senior linebacker Chandler Coleman picked up the SAA Defensive Player of the Week award after recording 9 tackles, all of them solo, including 4 tackles for loss and 1 sack.

This Week: Saturday, October 13th 2:00pm vs Austin College (1-5, 1-3).
The 'Roos enter this weekend's matchup 1-5 on the year. Austin began the season with three-straight losses before picking up their only win of the season, 12-9 over Hendrix College in week 4. Austin has dropped their last two games to Berry and Centre by a combined 99-20 score.

The Austin offense is averaging just 329.2 yards per game, which is last in the SAA. The QB Colt Collins is throwing for 200.2 yards per game which is good enough for fifth best in the league. Collins is also the team's leading rusher with 300 total yards on the ground this season.

Junior WR Adonis Martin has been on the receiving end of 3 of Collins' 6 passing touchdowns, while totaling a team-high 314 reception yards. Martin and sophomore WR Trey Carr are tied for the team lead with 16 receptions each.

On the defensive side of the ball Austin is led by sophomore DB Nathan McLane and senior DB Jackson Townsend who are tied with a team-high 49 tackles this year. Senior DL Don Ton and and sophomore Drake Sanders have both made two sacks, while Matthew Quenichent and Sanders are tied for the lead in tackles for loss with 6.5 each.

In last year's matchup on the road, the Majors trailed 19-3 at halftime, and despite outscoring Austin in the second-half suffered a 33-19 loss.

Millsaps leads the all-time series 19-16. The last Majors win came in 2012, a 36-34 thriller at Harper Davis Field.
