Millsaps Starts Winding Down SAA Play

The Millsaps College men's soccer team continues conference play this weekend as they square off against Centre College and Sewanee, both road matchups. 
 
Last Week
 
The Majors finished their 2018 home slate with a pair of tough losses. Millsaps dropped a 3-1 decision to Oglethorpe Friday night before falling 5-0 to Berry on Senior Day.    
 
This Week
 
Today: Centre College (8-4-1 1-2-1 SAA), 7:30 pm, Danville, Ky. 
 
The Colonels come into tonight's matchup on a high note, getting their first SAA win of the season with a 10-0 beat down of Hendrix last weekend. 5 different Centre players scored in that match. 
 
Leaders for Centre
  • Alexander Garuba-Garuba netted 4 goals against Hendrix on Sunday, which earned him SAA Offensive Player of the Week and vaulted him to #2 in the SAA with 9 goals. 
  • Bailey Spade-Spade has started all 13 games in goal for the Colonels this season. He leads the SAA in save percentage (.859), wins (8), goals against average (0.68) and shutouts (8).  
 
The Majors and Colonels played to a 2-2 draw last season at Harper Davis Field in the regular season before Centre ended the Majors season with a 2-1 SAA semi-final win.

Sunday: Sewanee (5-6-1, 1-3-0 SAA), 2:30 pm, Sewanee, Tenn.
 
The Tigers limp into Sunday's match, losers of 4 of their last 6. They knocked off Hendrix, 4-0, last Friday before falling to Rhodes, 1-0, on Sunday.  
Leaders for Sewanee
  • Kyle Johnston-Johnston leads the Tigers offense with 8 goals, which is 3rdin the SAA, and 17 points, which is 4thin the conference. He found the back of the net twice in Sewanee's win over Hendrix last weekend.  
  • Severin Velasco-The sophomore is third on the team in goals with 3 and points with 8. 
 
The Tigers knocked off the Majors 3-2 during the regular season before the Majors eliminated Sewanee from the SAA playoffs with a 4-1 win.
