NEW ORLEANS, La.—Coming into Saturday's final regular season match, the Millsaps volleyball team was riding a win streak and hoped to continue it. 
 
After falling behind early in the first set, the Majors came from behind to win game 1, then cruised to victory in the next 2 sets, to sweep the Wolfpack and end the 2018 regular season on a 3-match win streak.   
 
How It Happened
 
Set 1
 
Loyola led for the majority of the first set, pulling ahead 20-14 and seeming in control of the first game. Leading 22-16, the Majors came alive, taking advantage of 4 Wolfpack errors, a McKenzi Petricko kill and a Kayleigh Aicklen ace to tie the match at 22. Loyola took the next 2 points to go ahead 24-22, but the Majors never lost focus as they scored the next 4, including back-to-back Petricko kills and a Petricko/Morgan Vincent block to end the set, 26-24. 
 
Set 2
 
Millsaps made sure the second set wouldn't be as close as the first, as they surged ahead 9-3 to start the game. The Wolfpack was able to pull it within 5, at 19-14, but kills from Gracie Bellnap and Emily Herring killed any momentum Loyola had gained. A Petricko kill gave the Majors the set, 25-19, and a 2-0 lead.  
 
Set 3
 
The two teams traded points back and forth to start the third and final set, with Millsaps keeping a slight edge early on. But with Loyola knocking on the door, trailing only by a point at 17-16. the Majors shut that door, outscoring the Wolfpack 8-2 to finish off the match, including a Herring kill to finish off Loyola.  
 
Offensively, the Majors were led by Petricko's match-high 14 kills, to go along with her 2 blocks. Erica Bennett had 8 kills and a pair of aces while Vincent chipped in 6 kills, 3 blocks and 10 digs. Bellnap led the way with 19 assists while Aicklen led the defense with 13 digs.    
 
The win takes the Majors to 10-15 overall.     
  
 
 What's Next? 
 
Millsaps be off for a week before traveling to Berry College for next weekend's SAA Tournament. They are the #6 seed in the tournament and will face #3 Hendrix on Friday. The start time is TBA.
