JACKSON, Miss. – The 2018 college football season is coming to a close. The Millsaps College Majors will play their final game of the season tomorrow afternoon. Check out the game notes below for all the details.
Last Week
The Majors returned home last week for a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup with the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers.
The Panthers got out to a 24-0 lead at halftime, and held off the Millsaps comeback attempt to pick up the 34-17 win.
Offensively,
Amryn Jeffrey finished as the leading passer with 171 yards and 1 touchdown.
Andrew Warren led the team on the ground with 50 rushing yards on 13 attempts, and
Zach Henley led all receivers with 94 yards on 4 receptions.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Hooch Jeansonne led the way with 9 total tackles.
Mickale Massey had a team-high 2 tackles-for-loss while
Chandler Coleman,
Vance Laws and
Liam Vincifora all had sacks for the Majors.
Tomorrow: 1:00pm vs Hendrix College (2-7, 1-6 SAA)
The Hendrix College Warriors make the trip to Jackson for a week eleven matchup with the Majors. Hendrix is coming off a 30-20 upset win last week over Rhodes College. Prior to the win however, the Warriors had lost seven consecutive games.
Statistically, the Hendrix offense is last in the SAA in yardage, but sophomore RB Kip Vanhoose leads the conference with 78.6 rushing yards per game. Junior QB Mason Doerr is the team's leading passer with 1,374 yards and 7 touchdowns. Senior WR Michael Spainhour has been on the receiving end of 4 of those TDs, but sophomore Blake Hinton leads the team with 493 yards receiving.
On the defensive side of the ball, Tanner Hartsfield leads the team with 63 total tackles. Sophomore DE Jared Bazley has totaled 5.5 sacks this year, and sophomore DB Ronnie McShan leads the way with 3 interceptions.
Series History
Hendrix College leads the all-time series 5-9. The last Millsaps win over the Warriors came in 2013, a 48-37 victory at Harper Davis Field.
Senior Day
Prior to kickoff each of the seniors will be honored for their contributions to the football program, both on and off the field, during their time at Millsaps College.
