JACKSON, Miss.—The Millsaps women's basketball team spread some holiday cheer to fans on Tuesday as they dropped visiting MacMurray College, 63-40, in their final home game of 2018.  
 
How It Happened
 
Millsaps jumped out to a quick lead over the Highlanders, as Taelor Manning hit a jumper in the paint followed by a Dia Fortenberry layup to put the Majors ahead 4-0. After a MacMurray basket, a Manning three and a Fortenberry layup put the Majors comfortably in the lead, which they would maintain from start to finish. 
 
Defense was a big factor in the Majors win, as they held the Highlanders to single digit points in the first three quarters, including holding them without a bucket for more than 8 minutes to start the second half. In all, 13 steals led to 21 points for Millsaps, who also kept MacMurray from a double-digit scorer. 
 
The Majors were led by Fortenberry's 14 points and eight rebounds. Morgan McCrea and Millicent Butler added 12 and 11, respectively. Butler also added five assists and four steals.       
  
Stat of the Game
 
-The Millsaps defense held MacMurray to just 34.6% shooting from the field, including 3-14 from three. The defense also forced 26 Highlander turnovers. 


 
What's Next? 
 
The Majors are off for a week for the holidays before hitting the road for a Dec. 29 matchup at LeTourneau. Tipoff is scheduled for 1pm.
