LONGVIEW, Tx.—The Millsaps women's basketball team dug themselves into a first half hole, and despite rallying late, couldn't complete the comeback as they fell to LeTourneau, 54-51, in the Majors' last non-conference game of the season. 
 
How It Happened
 
The Majors defense held the Yellow Jackets to just 22 first half points on 10-36 (27.8%) shooting. Unfortunately, Millsaps had shooting woes of their own, shooting just 25%, including 0-6 from behind the arc, to trail 22-15 at the midway point. 
 
LeTourneau was able to build their lead to as many as 10 throughout the third quarter before a Dia Fortenberry layup brought the Majors within 6 to start the final period. 
 
With just over 5 minutes left in the game, and LeTourneau hanging onto an 8 point lead, Millsaps used a Braxton Thomas layup, a pair of Thomas freethrows and layups from Taelor Manning and Fortenberry to tie the game at 47. Fortenberry's freethrow gave Millsaps a one point lead but the Yellow Jackets answered with a three to retake possession. 
 
The two teams traded baskets and with just 12 seconds remaining and LeTourneau ahead by 3, Fortenberry added a layup Millsaps within one. A Majors turnover with three seconds left sealed the win for the Yellow Jackets and snapped the Majors 8-game win streak. 
 
The Majors were led by Fortenberry's 14 points and 10 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season. Thomas was the only other Major in double figures, finishing with 13.

Millsaps will ring in 2019 with a New Year's SAA matchup with Birmingham-Southern. Tipoff is scheduled for 1pm at the Hangar Dome.
