JACKSON, Miss. – There has been a change to the location and time of tonight's baseball game. Millsaps will now take on Piedmont College at 6:00pm and the game will be played at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson.
Piedmont enters the series with a record of 1-1, having split two games against Emory University last weekend.
The Majors opened their season last weekend, dropping two games to Huntingdon College by final scores of 3-2 and 6-2.
In the first game, they trailed 3-1 entering the ninth inning but made a late rally to bring it to 3-2. Unfortunately, the rally fell short when the Majors were thrown out on a delayed steal attempt to end the ballgame.
In the second game against Huntingdon, Millsaps trailed 1-0 going into the sixth inning when Piedmont scored three runs to put the Majors in a 4-0 hole. Millsaps cut the deficit to 4-2 during the top of the seventh inning, but Huntingdon responded with two more runs at the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach for Millsaps.
This weekend marks the beginning of a long home stretch for Millsaps, which also includes games against LaGrange, North Park University, Fontbonne, Texas-Tyler, Webster, University of Dallas, Belhaven, and Rhodes.
Millsaps does not leave Jackson again until March 6
th for a road game against Texas-Tyler.
