JACKSON, Miss. – After playing on the road all of the last week, the Millsaps College baseball team returned to Twenty Field on Tuesday evening. The Majors used ten hits to score six runs as they took down the Hawks of Huntingdon College 6-3. The win improves the Millsaps record to 15-5 overall. Huntingdon falls to 11-9.
Langston Haden was the starter on the mound for the Majors, and he turned in a solid five inning effort to pick up his first win of the season. His final line showed four hits allowed, four strikeouts and just one earned run
. Jacob Mardick worked four innings in relief to pick up the save. He also struck out four and the one run allowed was unearned.
Huntingdon struck first for a run in the 3
rd on a squeeze bunt, but in the bottom half of the inning
Brennan Ducote hit a sacrifice fly to tie things up at 1-1.
After another Huntingdon run in the top of the 5
th, Millsaps answered back to take a lead that would not surrender for the remainder of the evening.

Connor Woodall led off the inning with a pair of singles. Both players came around to score on throwing error by the Hawk catcher to give the Majors a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning
Chase Callaway singled to left field. He scored on an error by the Huntingdon second baseman to make it 4-2.
Millsaps picked up a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the 6
th thanks to a RBI double by Ducote, and a single by
Wes Lassere.
With the 6-2 lead Mardick was nearly untouchable down the stretch as he allowed just the unearned run in the top of the 9
th to secure the 6-3 win and his first save of the year.
What's Next?
Millsaps returns to Southern Athletic Association play this weekend as the Majors host Berry College in a three-game series. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1:00pm, and the series will conclude with one game at 12:00pm Sunday.
