JACKSON, Miss. – Millsaps College welcomed the Tigers of East Texas Baptist to Twenty Field for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening. The game was locked in a pitcher's duel for most of the night, but the Tigers opened things up late to come away with a 7-0 win.
The Majors fall to 17-7 overall, but they still sit alone atop the SAA standings with a 7-2 mark in conference play. ETBU improves to 11-10 on the season.
The Tigers scratched across a run in the top of the 1
st on a RBI groundout, and from that point on there was not a run put on the scoreboard until the 8
th inning.
The Majors had their chances however, but just could not get a timely hit all afternoon long as they left seven men on base.
The best chance came in the bottom of the 7
th inning when it was still a 1-0 ballgame. Millsaps had runners on second and third with just one out in the inning, but both runners were left stranded on base.
Six different pitchers took the mound for the Majors.
John Wiltshire turned in the longest outing as he went 3.2 innings, allowed zero hits and struck out three batters.
Offensively,
Andy Page and
Wes Lassere combined for four of the five Millsaps hits. Both players went 2-3 at the plate, and each walked once.
What's Next?
