Page Headlines Five from Millsaps Baseball that Receive All-SAA Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. –On Thursday, the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) announced the 2018 All-SAA Baseball awards. The award winners were selected exclusively by the league's head coaches. 

Senior Andy Page earned All-SAA First Team recognition for the second consecutive season.

Senior Chase Callaway, junior Connor Woodall and sophomore Jimmy Johnstone all were named All-SAA Second Team. While Senior pitcher Chris Guerin earned All-SAA Honorable Mention designation. 

Page started all 44 games for Millsaps and batted leadoff for the Majors this season. He posted a .383 batting average, which was tops on the team and sixth best in the SAA. He totaled a team-high 62 hits, including number 200 for his career on April 14th against Centre. He scored a team-high 44 runs, drove in 19 RBIs, as well as hit five doubles and one home run. Page also tied with Cavan Breland for the team-lead in stolen bases with 13. 

Johnstone was next on the team in batting average. His .361 mark was ninth best in the league. Early on the in the season he earned a starting role in the Majors' outfield. He played in 42 games and started 40 of them. Johnstone was second on the team in hits with 52, and tied with Page as he also drove in 19 RBIs. 

Callaway started all 44 games for the Majors at first base. He hit .325, and was second on the team in home runs with two. He drove in 28 RBIs and hit a team-high ten doubles. His slugging percentage of .442 was second on the team to Brennan Ducote

Woodall was another veteran player who started all 44 games for Head Coach Jim Page's club. He finished with a .299 batting average, and was second on the team in RBIs with 30, just three behind Ducote. Woodall also stole double-digit bases, finishing the season with 11. 

Guerin logged 35 innings on the mound in 17 relief appearances for the Majors. Those 17 appearances were tied with Jacob Mardick for tops on the team. He posted a 3.60 ERA, second only to the 3.20 posted by Conner Haynes. He had a perfect 2-0 record, and also earned two saves on the season. Guerin struck out 27 batters and held opponents to just a .238 batting average.
