JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College women's soccer team hits the road this week for a pair of non-conference matches, both of which are in the Magnolia State. Check out the game notes below for information about each opponent.
Last Week
The Majors dropped a pair of matches last week to Centenary College and Greenville University. Millsaps now sits at 0-2-2 on the young season.
Sept. 10-16
Today: The Mississippi University for Women (0-4), 7:00pm, Columbus Soccer Complex
The Owls, who are playing their inaugural season as a program, have yet to get a win or score a goal in the 2018 regular season. Most recently they dropped a 1-0 decision to LeTourneau University on Saturday.
Key Players for The W
Sarah Gilliland has played all 360 minutes in goal for the Owls and has made 28 total saves.
Sunday: Mississippi Valley State University (1-3-1), 2:00pm
On Sunday, the Majors will travel to Itta Bena, Mississippi for a match against the NCAA Division I Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University. Valley is 1-3-1 on the season and will play against MUW on Friday night before hosting the Majors on Sunday.
Last season MVSU came to Harper Davis Field and handed Millsaps a 5-0 loss.
Key Players for Valley
Laadi Issaka leads the Devilettes with six goals on the year.
Sydney Newport and McKennzie McCartney are splitting time at the keeper position. McCartney leads the team with 15 saves.
