Box Score ITTA BENA, Miss. -- On Sunday, the Millsaps College women's soccer team traveled to Itta Bena to take on the NCAA Division I Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University. MVSU led 3-1 at halftime, and built on that lead in the second half to come away with the 7-1 win.
Valley scored in the 2nd and 14th minute to grab the early 2-0 lead. The Majors answered back in the 19th minute when
Riley Fobare took a breakaway pass from
Emma Dotson,
and put it past the MVSU keeper for the lone Millsaps goal of the game. It was Fobare's team-leading second goal of the 2018 season.
Unfortunately, the Devilettes scored late in the half to take a 3-1 lead to halftime. In the second half MVSU scored four more goals to wrap up the 7-1 win.
Fobare led the offense with four shots, all of which were on goal including the score.
Grayston Barron added a pair of shots, while
Hannah Johnson and
Sharon Suffern each had one.
Alyssa McCarron and
Maddie Moore both saw time in goal for the Majors. McCarron finsihed with 9 saves to boost her season total to 39.
What's Next?
After several road games, Millsaps returns home to Harper Davis Field for their next six matches. First up is a non-conference game against Judson College. The Wednesday, September 19th kickoff is set for 5:00pm.
