JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps College women's soccer team took to Harper Davis Field on Wednesday evening for the first match of a six-game homestand. The Majors welcomed Judson College to town for one of their final non-conference games before the attention turns to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.
Millsaps dominated possession of the ball and the shot chart all evening long, and in the 71st minute
Riley Fobare scored her team-leading third goal of the season to give the Majors the lead. The defensive back line kept things clean for
Maddie Moore, who played all 90 minutes in goal and was only forced to make one save en route to the 1-0 shutout win.
The Majors outshot the visiting Eagles 15-0 in the first 45 minutes, and despite 7 of those shots being on goal Millsaps found themselves tied 0-0 at halftime.
Coming out in the second-half the Majors turned up their intensity, and the final 45 minutes was played almost exclusively on the offensive half of the field. Millsaps finally broke through in the 71st minute when Fobare took a pass from
Hannah Johnson and found the back of the net for the goal.
Moore made her lone save in the 64th minute as she picked up a clean sheet in goal for her first win of the season.
With the win the Majors improve their record to 2-3-2 overall.
What's Next?
The attention now turns to SAA play. On Saturday Millsaps will host Rhodes College in the conference opener for both schools. Kickoff from Harper Davis Field is set for 3:00pm.
