JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College women's soccer team returns home this week for a pair of matches at Harper Davis Field. Today the Majors will play Judson College, and on Saturday Millsaps opens up Southern Athletic Assocation (SAA) play by hosting Rhodes College. Check out the game notes below for information about each opponent.
Last Week
Millsaps picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, as they went on the road and beat the Mississippi University for Women 1-0.
Grace Babin scored the game-winning goal for the Majors on an assist from
Emily Gager. On Sunday, Millsaps fell to NCAA Division I Mississippi Valley State University 7-1.
Sept. 17-23
Today: Judson College (1-3), 5:00pm, Harper Davis Field
The Eagles, who are from Marion, Alabama, come into tonight's match off a pair of losses to Johnson Univeristy and Hiwassee College. Judson and Millsaps share one common opponent, LaGrange College. The Majors and Panthers played to a double-overtime 0-0 draw back on September 2nd. LaGrange knocked off Judson 5-0 to open their season.
Key Players for the Eagles
Chasely Matmanivong and Brianna Arriaga have split the time at keeper for Judson this year. Matmanivong leads the team in saves with 21.
Saturday: Rhodes College (2-3-1), 3:00pm
On Saturday, the Majors will open up conference play by hosting Rhodes College as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. The Lynx will play at Huntingdon College tonight before traveling to Jackson this weekend.
Last season Millsaps fell on the road to Rhodes by a final score of 4-0.
Key Players for the Lynx
Sydnie Schindler is second in the conference, and leads Rhodes with 5 goals on the season. Aly Hoyt is the leading assist person in the SAA with 5. She has also added three goals this season.
Meghan Kiker has played the majority of minutes at goalie. She has allowed 8 goals and made 26 saves.
