CLEVELAND, Miss. -- On Tuesday, the Millsaps College women's soccer team traveled to Cleveland for a non-conference match with the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University.
Junior
Riley Fobare scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 88th minute, but the NCAA Division II Lady Statesmen were able to secure the 5-1 win over the Majors.
Delta State used 13 first-half shots, 7 of those coming on goal, to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Madison Milano, who made her first start of the season in goal for the Majors, collected 5 saves in the first 45 minutes.
On the offensive side Millsaps got off three shots on goal, all of them coming from the foot of
Grayston Barron.
In the second half the Lady Statesmen stretched their lead out to 5 with goals in the 48th, 51st and 52nd minute.
The Majors' offense broke through in the 88th minute when Fobare beat the DSU keeper for her fourth goal of the season.
Defensively, Milano led the way with the 5 saves.
Maddie Moore played the final 31 minutes in goal, but the defensive backline kept things clean for her as she was not asked to make a save.
What's Next?
Millsaps will be back in action this weekend when they host Hendrix College as part of Family Weekend. Saturday's kickoff from Harper Davis Field is scheduled for 11:00am.
