JACKSON, Miss.—The Millsaps College women's soccer team jumped back into Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play on Saturday afternoon as the Majors welcomed the Hendrix College Warriors to Harper Davis Field.
Hendrix scored goals in both the 9
th and 53
rd minutes to pull out the 2-0 win.
How It Happened
The match started out slow with the Majors' defense doing a nice job of keeping the high-powered Hendrix offense at bay.
In the 9
th minute the Warriors had a break-away and Hagan Griffith scored on an assist from Khenli Sharp.
Riley Fobare had a pair of looks at goal for Millsaps in the first half, but unfortunately both of her shots were saved.
Hannah Johnson also had an attempt in the 14
th minute from the top of the box, but it was deflected.
Hendrix built on their 1-0 halftime lead by netting a goal in the 53
rd minute to stretch their advantage out to 2-0.
The Majors' offense did a good job of attacking in the second 45 minutes, as Millsaps earned four corner kicks. Unfortunately, the Warrior defense held strong for the 2-0 win.
