JACKSON, Miss. -- On Friday night, the Millsaps College Volleyball team challenged the nationally ranked Vikings of Berry College.
Berry controlled late runs in each set to win 3-0, improving to 8-1 in conference play, while the Majors fall to 3-5.
How It Happened
Berry found an early lead at 11-7 to kick off the second matchup against Millsaps before a kill from
Alyssa Jolly tied the game up at 17. Despite a strong effort to even things up, the visiting Vikings closed out the opening set, winning eight of the last nine points.Â
Offensively, both teams struggled to be consistent, making it difficult for anyone to keep a lead. Millsaps let the second set get away from them after four lead changes and 10 different even scores, losing on another nine point run 22-25.
Morgan Vincent put the Majors in the best situation to capitalize, when she regained the lead at 17-16. Service errors continued to erase any momentum for the home team, allowing BC to squeeze out the 3-0 victory.
Notables
Vincent topped the defense with 11 digs to go along with 5 blocks, while Millsaps collectively had 13 blocks.
Payton Passantino led the team in digs at 15.
What's Next?
Millsaps volleyball will be right back in the Hangar Dome at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday to take on Oglethorpe University. Following the weekend, the Majors will host a midweek contest against Birmingham College on Tuesday night.
