ATLANTA, Ga. -- On Sunday afternoon the Millsaps College men's soccer team played their final regular season road match of the 2019 season.
The Majors took on the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) leading Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University.
A strong first half from Oglethorpe allowed them to build a lead that the Majors were unable to overcome in the 8-1 loss.
With the loss Millsaps falls to 5-7 overall this season. They are 1-3 in conference play. The Stormy Petrels improve to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the SAA.
How It Happened
Oglethorpe's offense was able to connect several times in the first half to grab a 6-0 lead at the halftime break.
A quick score in the 46th minute combined with an eighth goal in the 68th minute put the match out of reach for the Majors.
For the Millsaps offense,
Gabriel Ryce and
Luca Kistner connected on a goal for the second time this weekend. This one coming in the 71st minute for Gabe's fifth goal of the season. It was Kistner's second assist of the year.
What's Next?
The Majors return to Jackson where they will play their final three regular season matches at home. First up is a Friday evening contest against Sewanee. Kickoff from Harper Davis Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
