ATLANTA, Ga. -- On Sunday afternoon, the Millsaps College women's soccer team played in their final road match of the 2019 season at Oglethorpe University.
The Stormy Petrels shut out the visiting Majors 3-0 for their first conference win on the year. OU improves to 9-4-1, while the Majors drop their fourth straight match to go 0-4 in conference play.
How It Happened
An own goal got things started as Millsaps misplayed a ball to the keeper, allowing Oglethorpe to take an early 1-0 lead. OU continued to put pressure on the Majors, forcing 12 shots in the first half but went into the break with no further success.
Maddie Moore faced 29 shots on the afternoon, encountering 17 of those in the second half. Unfortunately, in the 71st minute, the Petrels extended their lead on a counterattack to 2-0.
Millsaps continued to stay quiet on offense, struggling to find a single shot on goal. MC did put together five shots, but it was the home team that would put an end to regulation time, scoring with just four seconds remaining to win 3-0.
